A London-bound Air India flight carrying 242 people, including 169 Indian nationals, was involved in an accident shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad on Thursday afternoon, the airline confirmed.

Flight AI171, operating a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, departed Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 1:38 PM and was en route to London Gatwick when the incident occurred. On board were 53 British nationals, 7 Portuguese nationals, 1 Canadian national, and the rest Indian citizens.
What Air India Said In Its Statement?
Air India said the injured are being taken to the nearest hospitals, though the nature of the accident and number of casualties have not yet been disclosed.
The airline added that a dedicated passenger hotline has been activated at 1800 5691 444 for families and loved ones seeking information.
