Postage stamp and coin unveiled to commemorate 125th birth anniversary of Syama Prasad Mookerjee

The Ministry of Culture organized an exhibition and programme in New Delhi to mark the biannual commemoration of the 125th birth anniversary of Bharat Kesari Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee. Addressing the gathering, Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat highlighted the contribution of Dr Syama Mookerjee in nation building. He also underlined that Dr Mookerjee raised his voice against appeasement politics. Mr Shekhawat said that Dr Mookerjee paved the way for many workers like him. He mentioned that the Ministry of Culture has resolved to organize programs continuously for two years in an honour of Dr Mookerjee.

        Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said that Dr Mookerjee was the social reformer who opposed the special status given to Jammu and Kashmir. He added that the struggle led by Dr. Mookerjee was fulfilled in 2019 when Article 370 was abrogated from the Indian Constitution.

        Our correspondent reports that in the event, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Dr Jitendra Singh also unveiled a commemorative postage stamp and coin dedicated to Bharat Kesari Dr Mookerjee.
