EU council agrees to reduce customs duties on food products in Ukraine

The EU Council agreed on its position on reducing customs duties on a number of agricultural goods imported into the EU from Ukraine, including dairy products, fresh fruits and vegetables, and meat, the Council said on Monday.

“Today, the Council adopted a decision on the position that the EU will take in the EU-Ukraine Association Committee (in trade configuration) as regards the reduction or elimination of customs duties for a variety of agri-food products,” the document read.
Access to the European market for Ukrainian “sensitive goods” such as dairy products, fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and meat preparations will be limited, the document said.

Now the decision can be approved at a meeting of the EU-Ukraine Association Committee.
