NITI Aayog released two reports on India’s Services Sector in New Delhi. Addressing the launch event, NITI Aayog CEO B.V.R. Subrahmanyam emphasised that the services sector has long remained under-recognised in policy circles despite being a key driver of India’s economy.
Talking about the two reports, Mr Subramanyam said that the first report, titled India’s Service Sector: Insights from GVA trends and state-level dynamics, gives a detailed analysis of the contribution of various sub-categories of services in the economy at the national and state level.
The second report, India’s Service Sector: Insights from employment trends and state-level dynamics, focuses on employment across sub-sectors, gender, regions, education, and occupations in all the states. NITI Aayog, in a statement, said that these reports provide an indicative pathway, setting out potential strategies for State Governments and industry to unlock the next wave of services-led growth.
