Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday attended the National Cadet Corps (NCC) rally at Cariappa Ground in New Delhi. Addressing the cadets, he highlighted the organisation’s role in nation-building.
Felicitated cadets and officers
Prime Minister Modi congratulated all NCC cadets and officers present at the ceremony. He also welcomed cadets from friendly foreign countries and described their participation as a symbol of the NCC’s global recognition.
Called the participation of women cadets inspirational
PM Modi noted that this year’s rally saw a large participation of female cadets. He specifically commended the female cadets, saying that the NCC is an organization and movement that develops India’s youth into confident, disciplined, sensitive, and dedicated citizens.
Continuous increase in the number of NCC cadets
Narendra Modi said that the role of NCC cadets is becoming more powerful every year. Over the years, the number of NCC cadets has increased from 1.4 million to 2 million. The number of NCC cadets has increased significantly, especially in border areas and coastal regions.
NCC brings alive heritage and national pride
PM Modi said that the NCC is a platform for youth to live their heritage with pride. He noted that the NCC celebrated the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram” with enthusiasm and zeal across the country this year.
Mention of Paramveer Sagar Yatra and Island Festival
Referring to the Paramvir Sagar Yatra, the Prime Minister said that a few years ago, the government named 21 islands in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands after Paramvir Chakra winners. This initiative was driven by the spirit of honoring national heroes, which was furthered by the NCC. He also mentioned the Island Festival in Lakshadweep, which celebrated the ocean, culture, and nature together.
Bringing history to the masses
Narendra Modi said that the NCC has not confined history to monuments, but has brought it alive in the hearts of the people. He praised the NCC’s efforts to connect the valor of Bajirao Peshwa, the skill of the great warrior Lasitphor Phunkuji, and the leadership of Lord Birsa Munda to public consciousness through bicycle rallies.
Time of opportunities for youth
The Prime Minister said that he had said from the Red Fort that this is the time, the right time. Today’s era is full of opportunities for the youth of the country. The government is striving to ensure that the youth benefit maximally from this period.
Free trade agreement will open new opportunities
PM Modi said that a historic free trade agreement has been reached between India and Europe. Previously, India has also signed free trade agreements with countries like Oman, New Zealand, Britain, UAE, Australia, and Mauritius. He said that these agreements will create new jobs and opportunities for millions of youth.
