The Fourth Meeting of the India-Argentina Joint Trade Committee was held in Buenos Aires. The meeting reviewed progress on the roadmap agreed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Argentina in 2025. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepen strategic and economic ties. The discussions covered investment opportunities in mining, energy and infrastructure. India’s KABIL has also made significant progress in Argentina’s lithium sector. KABIL has completed Phase II drilling in Catamarca.
It is the first lithium mining initiative by an Indian company in Argentina. Further opportunities are being explored in Salta and Jujuy. Progress was also made in opening Argentina’s market to Indian pharmaceutical products. It will also help improve access to quality and affordable healthcare in Argentina. Both sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation in Ayurveda and Yoga. This builds on the 2019 Memorandum of Understanding between Argentina’s ANMAT (National Administration of Drugs, Food and Medical Technology) and India’s CDSCO (Central Drugs Standard Control Organization).
Bilateral trade crossed 6.5 billion dollars in 2025, registering consistent annual growth of over 17 per cent, and India is now Argentina’s fifth‑largest trading partner. The developments are expected to create more opportunities for Indian farmers and exporters. They will also strengthen agricultural trade and support India’s broader goal of achieving Viksit Bharat 2047.
