For the 11th consecutive night, Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire agreement by resorting to unprovoked firing across the Line of Control (LoC), targeting eight forward sectors in Jammu and Kashmir. This consistent aggression, occurring in the shadow of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, has once again exposed Pakistan’s cowardly strategy of hiding behind the LoC while pushing its terror agenda into Indian territory.
“During the night of May 4 and 5, Pakistani Army posts opened small arms fire in areas opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, Mendhar, Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor,” said a defence spokesperson. Indian troops responded with measured force, maintaining operational discipline while firmly defending forward posts.
These nightly provocations suggest a familiar pattern—when faced with international pressure and internal chaos, Pakistan’s army resorts to cross-border mischief to signal strength to its own population, knowing well it cannot withstand a full-scale retaliation.
Analysts say this calculated cowardice is a signature of Pakistan’s military: provoke, escalate, then play victim. But this time, India’s calm yet firm responses are exposing the futility of such tactics.
