31 Naxalites Killed in Encounter with Security Forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur, Two Cops Martyred.

Security forces killed 31 Naxalites in an encounter in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Sunday, police said. The gunfight broke out in the forest area on Sunday morning and two security personnel were also killed, as per the Bastar police officials.

The officials confirmed that many others were also injured in the face-off.The gunfight started in a forest in the Indravati National Park area. As per a senior police official, a joint team of personnel from different security forces was out on an anti-Naxalite operation.

Inspector General of Police, Bastar Range, Sundarraj P said that the latest gunfight took place in the Indravati National Park area when an anti-Naxalite operation was being carried out by a joint team of personnel from different security forces.

“Thirty-one Naxalites have been killed in the encounter,” he said.

The official confirmed that they had seized a huge cache of weapons and explosives from the site.Among the two security personnel who were killed in the gunfight, one belonged to the District Reserve Guard of the state police and the other to the Special Task Force, said the officials. The officials confirmed that two others suffered injuries.

The official said that efforts are being made to retrieve the bodies of the deceased security personnel.

The injured jawans are reported to be out of danger and have been airlifted and sent to a medical facility for treatment, said Sundarraj P.
