86 Maoists, Including 20 Women, Surrender in Telangana’s Bhadradri District

In Telangana, 86 Maoists, including 20 women, have surrendered to the police in Bhadradri Kothagudem district. The surrender is seen as a major step forward in efforts to bring peace and normalcy to the region, which has long been affected by left-wing extremism. Inspector General of Police Chandrasekhar Reddy stated that the surrender is part of an ongoing effort by the Telangana Police Department to rehabilitate Maoist cadres through welfare-driven initiatives under the Operation Chueyutha (Support) programme.

They have been provided 25 thousand rupees each for rehabilitation as immediate assistance. At a press conference, Mr Reddy highlighted the decision of the surrendered Maoists, especially the women, to choose the path of peace and development. So far, 224 Maoists have surrendered in the state this year.
