Styled by Rhea Kapoor, Alia’s rose gold saree and jacket ensemble by Ritu Kumar paid homage to Indian craftsmanship while exuding modern-day sophistication.
The ensemble, sourced from Ritu Kumar’s archives, isn’t just another festive outfit. It’s a piece of design history. As Rhea revealed, the saree revives one of Ritu Kumar’s earliest creations from over three decades ago. Crafted from rose gold silk, it featured silver tikki embroidery that glimmered like delicate constellations across the drape. The intricate floral motifs, rendered in fine metallic threads, celebrate the designer’s signature Silk Road-inspired artistry, which is romantic, feminine, and enduringly Indian.
Rhea elevated Alia Bhatt’s golden look with a distinctly modern spin. Instead of a traditional blouse, Alia wore a sleeveless bustier with a plunging sweetheart neckline and broad straps, echoing quiet confidence. The addition of an embroidered long jacket with full sleeves and an open front brought structure and edge to the fluid silhouette. Together, the saree and jacket created a layered look that was festive yet fashion-forward, striking a perfect chord between tradition and trend.
