About 98 per cent of the proposed procurement is expected to be sourced from Indian industry, according to the Defence Ministry.

The Defence Acquisition Council on Monday granted in-principle approval to capital-acquisition proposals estimated at ₹1.10 lakh crore for the Army, Navy and Air Force.
The council, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, approved Army proposals covering chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear reconnaissance vehicles, high-mobility vehicles, self-propelled mine-laying systems, advanced light helicopters, trawl tanks and Sarvatra bridge systems.
For the Navy, the council approved the procurement of Arudhra radars and the development and subsequent acquisition of marine gas turbines. The Defence Ministry said the radars would replace existing air-route surveillance systems at naval air stations, while the turbine programme was intended to reduce dependence on foreign propulsion suppliers.
Air Force approvals included ground-based multi-purpose jammers, a radio-frequency identification-based secure-access system and projects intended to strengthen the capabilities of fighter, transport and helicopter fleets. The ministry did not disclose the value, quantity, delivery schedule or selected manufacturer for each proposal.
An Acceptance of Necessity is an administrative clearance allowing procurement to proceed; it is not a signed supply contract. Projects will still require tendering or nomination under the applicable procurement category, technical and commercial evaluation, price negotiations and final contractual approval.
The ministry said approximately 98 per cent of the approved procurement by value would be sourced from Indian industry. The actual domestic content and participation of private companies will depend on the tender conditions and contracting structure.
