The Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Japan Air Self-Defence Force (JASDF) will conduct the bilateral air exercise Veer Guardian-2026 at Air Force Station Jodhpur from September 9 to September 22, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said on Tuesday.
The 14-day exercise will see the participation of frontline fighter aircraft from both countries. The IAF will deploy a diverse fleet comprising the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas, Su-30 MKI and Rafale fighter aircraft, while the JASDF will participate with its F-2A fighter aircraft.
The exercise will provide an opportunity to the air warriors of both countries to undertake advanced operational missions and enhance interoperability through extensive professional interactions.
As part of the exercise, the participating personnel will engage in mission planning conferences and subject matter expert exchanges. They will also interact on engineering practices and aerospace safety-related aspects, aimed at strengthening operational coordination and sharing professional expertise.
The Ministry said Exercise Veer Guardian-2026 reflects the deepening strategic partnership between India and Japan and will contribute to enhancing tactical proficiency and aerospace operational synergy between the two air forces.
The exercise also reaffirms the longstanding ties of friendship and strategic cooperation between India and Japan, while providing a platform for both sides to strengthen mutual understanding and operational capabilities.
