External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Thursday called on Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in New Delhi and welcomed his views on expanding cooperation between India and Poland across a range of sectors.
Tusk is on a three-day official visit to India from October 21 to 23 at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s invitation.
“Pleased to call on Prime Minister Donald Tusk of Poland. Appreciated his sharing thoughts on deepening India-Poland cooperation across a wide range of domains,” EAM Jaishankar said in a post on X.
The External Affairs Minister said he looked forward to Tusk’s meeting with PM Modi to advance the bilateral Strategic Partnership.
Tusk and PM Modi are scheduled to hold talks on Thursday to review the full spectrum of bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest. India and Poland elevated their ties to a Strategic Partnership during PM Modi’s visit to Poland in August 2024.
The Polish Prime Minister arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday and was received at the airport by Union Minister of State Raj Bhushan Choudhary. Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the visit would provide fresh impetus to the Strategic Partnership and deepen longstanding ties.
Tusk is accompanied by Poland’s Minister of Finance and Economy Andrzej Domanski and a large business delegation. Following his engagements in New Delhi, he will travel to Bengaluru to interact with business stakeholders, including representatives of the information technology and space sectors.
India-Poland Business Forums are scheduled in New Delhi on October 22 and Bengaluru on October 23.
According to the MEA, the visit will advance cooperation in trade and investment, defence, emerging technologies, renewable energy, education, culture and people-to-people ties. It will also help deepen the India-European Union strategic partnership.
This is Tusk’s second visit to India as Polish Prime Minister, following his visit in 2010. He also visited New Delhi in 2017 for the India-EU Summit as President of the European Council.
