Tensions between the United States and Iran have escalated amid reports of preparations for possible renewed military strikes and warnings of retaliation from Tehran. US President Donald Trump has indicated that developments could come soon but said Washington is not currently negotiating with Iran.
Iran has warned of retaliation against any renewed attacks. The media report said Washington was deploying additional military assets to the region, while the possibility of strikes could also be used as leverage in negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program and control of the Strait of Hormuz.
