The Indian Naval Ship Sahyadri departed Vladivostok, Russia on 20th of this month, following the conclusion of the bilateral naval exercise INDRA 2026. The Defence Ministry said that the exercise was conducted between the Indian Navy and the Russian Federation Navy. The Ministry said that the exercise comprised two phases including Harbour and Sea. The Harbour Phase featured key leaders’ interactions, cross-deck visits, Subject Matter Expert Exchanges, operational synchronisation activities, sports fixtures and cultural exchanges. Meanwhile, the Sea Phase involved coordinated manoeuvring, integrated communications, helicopter operations and medical evacuation drills. These activities enabled participating units to practise coordinated procedures at sea, enhance communication and strengthen operational coordination and interoperability.
The Ministry said that sports and cultural interactions further fostered camaraderie and strengthened bonds between personnel of the Indian Navy and the RuFN, complementing the professional engagements and reinforcing longstanding naval ties between the two countries. The exercise underscored the importance of sustained naval engagement, professional cooperation and interoperability in furthering mutual understanding and contributing to maritime security. It also reflected the shared commitment of the two navies to a secure, stable and peaceful maritime environment.
