Amit Shah Terms SIR Phase as ‘Voter List Purification’ Initiative

Home Minister Amit Shah termed the Election Commission’s ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) as the purification of the voter list. He cautioned political parties that are opposing the process and favouring illegal infiltrators.

Addressing the BSF’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in Bhuj, Gujarat, the Minister asserted the government’s strong resolve to deport every single infiltrator from the country. He appealed to the public to fully support the SIR to strengthen democracy.

Mr Shah also hailed the BSF’s pivotal role in protecting international borders and ensuring internal security by preventing infiltration, combating naxalism and tackling drug trafficking. He announced a five-year target to make the BSF the most modern and aggressive force in the world.

Later in the day, while addressing party workers at the inauguration of ‘Shri Kamalam’ district party office in Morbi, the Home Minister asserted that the BJP will form governments in Tamil Nadu and Bengal too.
