Indian Space Research Organisation, ISRO, is gearing up for an intense year with seven more launches planned before the financial year ends, including a commercial communication satellite and several PSLV and GSLV missions. ISRO chairman V Narayanan, in an Interview, has confirmed government approval for Chandrayaan-4, a lunar sample-return mission, and progress on LUPEX, the joint polar exploration project with Japan.
ISRO also aims to triple spacecraft production within three years. He added that work has begun on an Indian Space Station targeted for 2035, while India’s first human spaceflight remains set for 2027. Prime Minister Modi has additionally directed ISRO to plan for sending Indian astronauts to the Moon by 2040.
