Delhi Assembly Election Results 2025 Live Updates: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) delivered a resounding defeat to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday, leading in more than 45 seats. In a significant blow to the party, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal lost to BJP’s Parvesh Verma, solidifying the BJP’s historic comeback in Delhi after 27 years.
Several prominent AAP leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, and Satyendar Singh, who initially held leads for a few rounds, ultimately faced defeats at the hands of BJP contenders, marking a sweeping victory for the saffron party.
Among AAP’s big guns, Atishi emerged as the only leader who won from the Kalkaji constituency by defeating BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri.The Congress, which has faced two consecutive electoral defeats, could not open account in this high-stakes battle as well.
With the results out, a wave of celebrations broke out outside BJP’s Delhi headquarters as party’s supporters waved party flags and danced to the tunes of dhol. The office of the defeated Aam Aadmi Party had a silent atmosphere.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the BJP victory in Delhi after 27 years is the victory of development and good governance. He will reach the BJP headquarters at 5:30 pm in the evening.
Vote counting commenced at 8am across 19 counting stations spanning 11 districts.
