India’s ace couturiers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla have known Dimple Kapadia since before there was an “AJSK”, back when they were two young designers trying to get noticed, and she was already a star lending them her face for magazine covers. Over four decades, she went from covergirl to confidante and eventually something closer to family. So when the designers sat down to pick the face of their first jewellery collection, there was nothing to debate. Dimple Kapadia was always going to be it.
The collection is called “Iconic Jewels,” timed to AJSK’s 40th anniversary. The brand built its name on chikankari and patola, hand embroidery techniques they turned into a signature, then a business. With this collection, they’ve applied the same eye to diamonds and precious metal instead of thread. Each design comes in tightly limited runs of 40 to 50 pieces, which keeps the exclusivity intact. The jewellery itself is large, ornate and hard to miss, classic AJSK.
