Economic Survey 2024-25

Economic Survey 2024–25: The Economic Survey 2025 will be presented by Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday, January 31, ahead of the 2025 Union Budget. The survey is prepared by the Economic Division of the Department of Economic Affairs, under the leadership of the Chief Economic Advisor (CEA), V Anantha Nageswaran.

The Economic Survey offers an overview of India’s economic performance in previous years, its current state, and projections for the upcoming financial year.

The Economic Survey for 2023-2024 highlighted a drop in the unemployment rate and emphasized the economy’s resilience, among other key findings. The survey said that India’s real GDP grew by 8.2% in FY24, marking over 7% growth for the third consecutive year, fueled by consistent consumption demand and improving investment demand.

The 476-page Economic Survey underscored that India’s economy had solidified its post-Covid recovery. Policymakers had played a crucial role in ensuring economic and financial stability, with the economy continuing to expand despite global volatility.

The survey highlighted the necessity of substantial domestic efforts to sustain recovery, given the challenging global environment.
