Hopes weren’t too high when I entered the theatre to watch Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, but I must admit, the film is much better than expected. It’s fun.
Directed by David Dhawan, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai stars Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde in the lead. The film revolves around a man who finds himself in a situation when he discovers that both his wife and girlfriend are pregnant at the same time. What follows is a rollercoaster ride and entertainment.To begin with, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is a typical David Dhawan movie. The director returns to his comfort zone with this film and the result is exactly what fans of his cinema would expect: a light-hearted entertainer packed with confusion, comedy and romance. The film does not attempt to reinvent the wheel, but it succeeds in delivering wholesome family entertainment.
The plot of the film is nothing extraordinary, nor does it offer anything great to the audience. But that is precisely where the film’s charm lies. It embraces its old-school Bollywood roots without hesitation and focuses entirely on one thing: How to keep the audience entertained.
