National Security Adviser Ajit Doval held talks with senior Vietnamese leaders during an official visit to Hanoi on November 1-2, reviewing security cooperation and progress under the India–Vietnam Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Doval met General Luong Tam Quang, a Politburo member of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s Central Committee and Minister of Public Security. Their discussions covered security and intelligence cooperation, including law enforcement, cybersecurity, maritime security and economic security.

Both sides agreed to strengthen capacity building in these areas.

The NSA also called on To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s Central Committee and State President, and conveyed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s greetings.

During the visit, Doval met General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, and Le Hoai Trung, Politburo member and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

He also visited the historic Quan Su Pagoda in Hanoi, the headquarters of the National Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.

The MEA said that the visit provided an opportunity to review bilateral cooperation under the India-Vietnam Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership ahead of the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2027.
