India Leads BRICS Digital Dialogue at Second ICT Working Group Meeting

The Department of Telecommunications held the second meeting of the BRICS Working Group on Cooperation in Information and Communication Technologies under India’s 2026 BRICS Presidency. The virtual meeting reflected the shared commitment of BRICS nations to strengthening cooperation in digital technologies, future networks, innovation, Digital Public Infrastructure, and capacity building for inclusive and sustainable growth.

Senior officials and representatives from BRICS member countries discussed ways to deepen cooperation in the ICT sector. According to the Ministry of Communications, the discussions focused on bridging the digital divide, promoting innovation-driven growth, enhancing digital resilience, and ensuring affordable and meaningful connectivity across emerging economies.

The meeting was held under the theme of India’s BRICS Presidency — “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.”

A major highlight of the meeting was India’s presentation of a concept note on BRICS Capacity Building Centres under the BRICS ICT Track. The initiative aims to promote skilling, knowledge-sharing, technical training, research cooperation, and capacity development in emerging digital and telecom technologies among BRICS nations.
