India and Poland have explored opportunities to expand bilateral cooperation in emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), semiconductors, cybersecurity and critical minerals, during the visit of Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada to Poland.
Prasada visited Poland on November 2 and 3, accompanied by a business delegation comprising representatives of 12 Indian companies. The visit aimed to strengthen trade, investment and technology partnerships between the two countries.
During the visit, the Minister held discussions with Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs Krzysztof Gawkowski on expanding cooperation in AI, semiconductors, data centres and cybersecurity.
In his meeting with Ignacy Niemczycki, Secretary of State in Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prasada discussed opportunities arising from the India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA). He highlighted the potential for greater cooperation in agri-tech and food processing and called for increased opportunities for small and medium enterprises.
Prasada also met Poland’s Deputy Minister for Economic Development and Technology, Michal Baranowski. The discussions focused on cooperation in critical minerals, semiconductors and start-up partnerships.
Highlighting the opportunities under the Make in India initiative, the Minister emphasised the importance of co-development and co-production, supported by technology transfer, to strengthen industrial partnerships between the two countries.
On November 3, Prasada delivered the opening address at the India–Poland Business Forum organised at the Polish National Chamber of Commerce (KIG) in Warsaw.
Addressing business representatives, he called upon Indian and Polish companies to explore new business opportunities, strengthen partnerships and unlock the potential of bilateral trade and investment.
He also highlighted the opportunities expected to emerge from the India-EU FTA and encouraged businesses from both countries to leverage the agreement to expand market access, enhance investment flows and explore new areas of economic cooperation.
During the visit, the Minister interacted with members of the Indian business community in Poland and acknowledged their contribution to strengthening bilateral relations. He also held discussions with potential Polish investors to explore avenues for attracting greater investment into India.
As part of his industry engagements, Prasada visited Transition Technologies, a Polish IT and software engineering company, and WB Electronics, a Polish defence company, both of which have business interests in India.
The visit follows the recent visit of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk to India and reflects the growing momentum in bilateral engagement. India and Poland established their Strategic Partnership in 2024 during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Poland.
