India and Syria on Tuesday discussed avenues for bilateral cooperation in disaster management and capacity building.
Charge d’Affaires at the Embassy of India in Syria, Renu Yadav, met Syrian Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management Raed Al-Saleh in Damascus.
The Embassy of India said the two sides discussed various avenues of bilateral cooperation in the areas of disaster management and capacity building.
The meeting comes as India and Syria continue efforts to strengthen bilateral engagement across areas of mutual interest.
Last month, Renu Yadav also met Qutaiba Badawi, President of Syria’s General Authority for Borders and Customs, and discussed issues of mutual interest.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, India and Syria share friendly relations based on historic and civilizational ties.
In July 2025, an Indian delegation visited Damascus and held discussions with Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani on ways to strengthen bilateral relations in areas of mutual interest.
The Indian delegation, led by Suresh Kumar, Director of the West Asia and North Africa Division in the Ministry of External Affairs, also met Syrian Health Minister Musab Al-Ali during the visit.
The latest engagement reflects continued diplomatic interaction between New Delhi and Damascus, with both sides exploring avenues for greater cooperation and capacity building.
