Among the actors turning heads at the ceremony were Kartik Aaryan and Dhanush, who took two very different approaches to traditional Indian dressing and both made a strong case for keeping things classic when the occasion calls for it.
Kartik went for a sleek, sharply tailored black bandhgala, while Dhanush embraced a more rooted traditional look in an all-white ensemble. Basically, one went modern Maharaja, the other went South Indian traditional elegance. Kartik received his first National Film Award for Best Actor for Chandu Champion, sharing the honour with Malayalam superstar Mammootty, who was recognised for Bramayugam. So yes, the smile in those photographs was absolutely justified.
