Pakistan’s response indiscriminate shelling hitting civilian areas such as bus stands and marketplaces demonstrates a reckless and unjustified aggression aimed at terrorizing innocent populations rather than engaging in any legitimate military confrontation. One person was killed in Mendhar and six others lost their lives in Poonch, officials reported. Sources added that two CRPF personnel were injured when a shell struck a bus stand in Poonch.
Heavy shelling was reported across several border sectors, with local sources confirming ongoing cross-border firing in Krishna Ghati, Shahpur and Mankote in Poonch district, as well as Laam, Manjakote, and Gambeer Brahmana in Rajouri. Intense artillery bombardment was also heard in the Uri and Tangdhar areas of the Kashmir Valley. Reports indicated a woman was killed in Mankote, although officials have yet to verify this casualty.
Ten persons, including five minor children were also injured in cross-border shelling in Uri sector of Baramulla district, while three others were injured in Rajouri district, the Govt officials said, adding several houses also caught fire due to shelling in Karnah sector of Kupwara district.
The officials identified the deceased as Balvinder Kour alias Ruby (33), Mohd Zain Khan (10), his elder sister Zoya Khan (12), Mohd Akram (40), Amrik Singh (55), Mohd Iqbal (45), Ranjeet Singh (48), Shakeela Bi (40), Amarjeet Singh (47), Maryam Khatoon (7), Vihaan Bhargav (13) and Mohd Rafi (40).
