PM Modi at Maha Kumbh News: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that the ‘snan’ at Sangam (confluence of rivers Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati) is a moment of divine connection. He added that he was blessed to be at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.
“…It is a moment of divine connection, and like the crores of others who have taken part in it, I was also filled with a spirit of devotion. May Maa Ganga bless all with peace, wisdom, good health and harmony,” he wrote on X while sharing his pictures.
PM Modi took a holy dip in Prayagraj’s Triveni Sangam amid Vedic chants and hymns, during the ongoing Maha Kumbh mela. Decked in track pants, saffron jacket and ‘rudrakash mala‘ in hand, the prime minister offered prayers to the Sun God and worshipped the sacred rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati.He performed the traditional rituals with offerings of rice, flowers, fruits, and a red cloth at the confluence.
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath had welcomed the PM on his arrival in Prayagraj. The administration said that despite Modi’s visit, devotees continued their bathing rituals at the Sangam. The city, however, was on high alert due to security reasons.
Details Of Rituals Performed By PM Modi
Before stepping into the waters, PM Modi performed a detailed worship ceremony. He first touched the water with reverence, offered prayers to the Sun God, and performed Tarpan (ancestral offerings).
Dressed in a black kurta, saffron stole, and Himachali cap, he made offerings of rice, flowers, fruits, and a red cloth to the holy rivers. The local priests welcomed him with a ceremonial tilak before he departed via boat with CM Yogi.
PM Modi’s Holy Dip Was A Symbolic Message Of Unity
According to sources in the government, PM Modi was emphasising on the essence of ‘One India, Supreme India’ by taking a dip during the auspicious occasion of Gupt Navratri and Bhishmashtami. The objective was also to stress on Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (The world is one family).
