Just a day ago, our dear desi girl had us marking our calendars when Priyanka Chopra Jonas revealed that she had been named an ambassador for the LVMH Prize ceremony in Paris. For fashion enthusiasts everywhere, that could only mean one thing: a major PC fashion moment was loading. So, like the devoted PC girlies we are, we waited. On Friday, Chopra arrived at the Fondation Louis Vuitton to present the Karl Lagerfeld Prize, alongside Jennifer Lawrence and Urassaya ‘Yaya’ Sperbund.
And yes, girly delivered. Chopra stepped out in a striking Dior creation that traded the usual red-carpet sparkle for sculptural detailing. The monochromatic black-and-white look featured oversized 3D floral accents around the skirt, giving the silhouette an unexpected playful twist. Later, she shared a carousel of pictures from the evening on Instagram, captioning it, “There’s something really special about watching young designers bring their ideas to life and seeing those ideas find a bigger stage.” And now that we have seen the look from every possible angle, naturally, we need to talk about it.
The dress starts off rather quietly. Its black, pleated bodice is sleeveless and fitted through the waist, with a high neckline that gives the upper half of the look an almost minimalist feel. Then you get to the skirt and things take a turn. Large black-and-white fabric flowers sit around the waist, from which narrow strips of pleated fabric fall towards the hem.
The floral details are what make this Dior number particularly fun. They are oversized without making the dress feel fussy, and the white petals stand out beautifully against the black fabric.Chopra kept the rest of the styling relatively pared back. She carried a small black handbag and wore black open-toe heels, with the sunglasses adding that nonchalant Parisian mood.
For her makeup, Chopra kept things soft and polished. She wore a fresh, luminous base with subtly sculpted cheeks and a neutral lip. She defined her eyes with liner and soft shadow, adding enough intensity to frame her gaze without taking attention away from the dress.
