Republic Day India 2026 Highlights: India showcased its development journey, cultural diversity and military strength at the 77th Republic Day celebrations. Newly raised military units and mock-ups of major weapon systems deployed during Operation Sindoor were also a part of the parade.
Republic Day Parade: The parade began at 10.30 am and concluded after noon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to fallen soldiers at the National War Memorial before proceeding to the saluting dais to join other dignitaries.
77th Republic Day India Chief Guest: The President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen attended the event as chief guests in the national capital.
Meanwhile, security has been intensified nationwide, especially along the India-Nepal border, after the Sashastra Seema Bal received specific intelligence inputs about possible threats from “anti-national elements,” officials said. Delhi-NCR has also been placed on high alert, while security forces carried out vehicle checks across Jammu and Kashmir.
Delhi Traffic Advisory 26th January: The Delhi Police issued a traffic advisory announcing major road closures and diversions across central Delhi for Republic Day celebrations on Monday. The parade began from Vijay Chowk and pass through Kartavya Path, India Gate, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Netaji Subhash Marg, concluded at the Red Fort. Traffic was restricted from early morning, with key stretches along the parade route, including C-Hexagon and its radial roads, closed to general and private vehicles during the event.
