At the Asian Under-23 Wrestling Championships, Indian grapplers continued their impressive run, securing three gold, two silver, and three bronze medals in Vietnam’s at Da Nang today. In the women’s freestyle events, Mansi Lathera and Kajal Dhochak clinched gold medals, while Sweety and Neha Sangwan bagged silver medals. Ahilya Shinde added to the tally with a bronze medal finish. In the Men’s Greco-Roman category, Sumit Dalal won gold, while Neeraj Patel and Rohit Bura secured bronze medals.
In Men’s events, Sumit clinched the gold medal in the 63kg division after a dominant 12-2 victory over Uzbekistan’s Ozodbek Khalimboev in the final. In the 55kg category, Neeraj Patel won the bronze medal by defeating Rauan Bekimov of Kazakhstan 8-0 in the bronze medal match. Rohit Bura bagged bronze in 87kg category with a commanding 9-0 win against Kyrgyzstan’s Artykbek Alymbek Uulu.
In Women’s events, Mansi put up a dominant display in the 68kg gold medal bout, registering a comprehensive 14-1 win over Uzbekistan’s Firuza Esenbaeva. Kajal was equally impressive in the 76kg final, blanking Kyrgyzstan’s Aizharkyn Zhanybekova 10-0. Sweety won silver after going down against local favourite Ngoc Linh Do, 7-5 in the 50 kg final. In the 59 kg category, Neha Sangwan also secured silver after losing 9-5 to Laylokhon Sobirova of Uzbekistan in the final. Meanwhile, in the 55 kg category, Ahilya Shinde claimed bronze by defeating Aruuke Kadyrbek Kyzy of Kyrgyzstan 13-2.
