The BJP is poised to script history in West Bengal by forming government with an overwhelming mandate in the state assembly polls. The state will be witnessing its first BJP government since Independence as the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is staring at defeat after 15 years in power.
Out of a total of 293 assembly seats, results have been declared for 11 constituencies so far. BJP has bagged nine seats while Trinamool Congress has won two seats.
Prominent BJP candidates who registered win include, Agnimitra Paul from Asansol Dakshin constituency and Karfa Soumen from the Bhatar seat. On the other hand, TMC’s Reyar Hossain Sarkar has emerged victorious from the Bhagawangola seat
As per trends available so far for 282 seats, BJP is leading in 191 while Trinamool Congress is ahead in 85, CPM in 1 Congress in 2 and Others in 3.
