The United States and China agreed that Iran must not be allowed to acquire a nuclear weapon and that no country or institution should be permitted to impose tolls on international waterways during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to the US.
On artificial intelligence, the leaders agreed to launch a China-US AI dialogue to exchange views on the risks and benefits associated with the technology, with the next round scheduled for November this year.
The two sides also agreed to implement a reciprocal tariff reduction arrangement worth 30 billion US Dollar. US President Donald Trump also urged Xi to increase the production of refined petroleum products to help stabilise global supplies.
Meanwhile, China’s Foreign Ministry said the two countries were continuing efforts to address US concerns over supply shortages involving rare earths and other critical minerals, with the aim of restoring shipments to appropriate levels.
Xi arrived in the United States earlier this week for a three-day visit.
