The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) today issued the consultation paper on the regulatory framework for ground-based broadcasters. The government issues guidelines from time to time for uplinking and downlinking of satellite television channels, containing the terms and conditions for TV broadcasting services.
The Communications Ministry said that the advancement of technology has made it feasible for broadcasters to provide their television channels to distribution platform operators terrestrially, using ground-based technologies. The consultation paper is available on TRAI’s website, and comments can be submitted by the 15th of next month.
