The Indian Navy’s sail training ship, INS Sudarshini, departed from Livorno in Italy, yesterday after completing a successful port call. During its stay, the ship participated in a series of professional interactions and cross-training visits, further strengthening the bonds of friendship and maritime partnership between the two countries.
The Defence Ministry said Chief of the Italian Navy Admiral Giuseppe Berutti Bergotto visited INS Sudarshini and interacted with the ship’s crew and trainees. As part of the training exchanges, Indian naval trainees visited the Italian Navy frigate ITS Virginio Fasan and the Italian Naval Academy, while Italian naval personnel visited INS Sudarshini. The exchanges fostered professional cooperation and mutual understanding between the two navies.
The Ministry said that as INS Sudarshini continues its voyage as part of Lokayan 2026, it will carry forward the spirit of maritime partnership and the vision of MAHASAGAR – Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions.
