Bangladesh has launched a special nationwide measles-rubella (MR) vaccination campaign targeting around 34 lakh unvaccinated or missed children aged six months to under five years. The campaign is being conducted by the Health and Family Welfare Ministry under the title ‘Intensified MR Catch-up Vaccination’ at the T&T playground and in various areas of Dhaka today.
The campaign will continue until October 31 and aims to identify children who were missed during the ongoing MR vaccination campaign and arrange vaccination for them. Children who have reached six months of age during this period and have become newly eligible will also be covered.
Health workers and volunteers will conduct house-to-house visits to verify children’s vaccination status and identify children who are outside existing vaccination lists or previous campaign data.
