Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has said that media and journalism play an important role in shaping how people see the world and spreading the light of knowledge. Addressing the inaugural session of FICCI FRAMES, he said a story is not merely a source of entertainment but can influence how people think about a subject, place or issue and shape how societies understand one another.
Mr. Shekhawat said the world is witnessing an unprecedented pace of technological and social change, with the transformation witnessed over the past decade surpassing that of the previous century, while the pace of change has accelerated further over the last two years. He said the challenge before media organisations today is not a shortage of content, but finding meaning, originality, human connection and trust in an environment of virtually unlimited content and limited audience attention.
FICCI FRAMES Ambassador and actor Ayushmann Khurrana, while addressing the event, said India’s media and entertainment ecosystem now extends across films, series, television, gaming, sports, music, creators and digital platforms. He said India’s media moment is not simply about how much content the country produces, but about the value created through that content.
Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Prabhat said the central question is no longer simply how much content can be created, but how much enduring value can be created. He also highlighted challenges arising from misinformation, synthetic content and increasingly sophisticated AI-generated material.
The two-day conference will feature high-level discussions on India’s evolving media and entertainment landscape, covering films, television, streaming, sports, gaming, creators, AI, copyright, digital media, live events, AVGC-XR, esports and the global expansion of Indian content and intellectual property. It will also include keynote addresses, fireside chats, industry panels, screenings, networking sessions, MoU exchanges and award ceremonies.
