A massive Russian strike killed 25 people and injured 100 others in Ukraine yesterday. Russia launched 70 missiles alongside dozens of attack drones targeting Kyiv and a dozen other Ukrainian regions. The heaviest toll occurred in Pryluky in the northern Chernihiv region, where a missile obliterated a five-story apartment building, killing 19 people. Additional civilian deaths and damage were reported in Kyiv, Oleksandria, and Kremenchuk.
According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukrainian forces intercepted 44 missiles and suppressed 117 drones, though they were unable to fend off the entire barrage. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy condemned the assault, describing it as a deliberate demonstration of violence. Officials emphasised the urgent need for additional air defence systems and ammunition packages to better intercept incoming ballistic threats.
Earlier, Zelenskyy said US negotiators had proposed holding a trilateral meeting involving Ukraine and Russia at the technical level by the end of October, with Kyiv expressing readiness to participate.
