China denies reports of progress in trade talks with USA

China denied reports of tariff talks with the United States, saying there’s “no factual basis” for claims of progress in the trade dispute. China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun told reporters that no negotiations are underway and no deal is in sight. Guo said the tariff war was started by the U.S., adding that while China is open to dialogue, talks must be based on “equality, respect, and mutual benefit.”
The comments follow U.S. media reports suggesting the two sides were nearing a breakthrough.
