Indian Navy Chief Admiral Krishna Swaminathan met Australian Fleet Commander Rear Admiral Anita Williams in Sydney to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation and interoperability between the two navies, the Indian Navy has said. According to the Indian Navy, the talks covered Australia’s evolving fleet capabilities, planned acquisitions and opportunities for greater operational interaction. Swaminathan also toured HMAS Kuttabul which is Royal Australian Navy base and its fleet infrastructure.
His visit to Australia and New Zealand is aimed at strengthening bilateral maritime and defense cooperation. In New Zealand, he is scheduled to meet senior naval and defense officials and discuss training, information sharing and operational cooperation. The visits come as India deepens its maritime engagement with both countries as part of broader efforts to promote peace, security and stability in the Indo-Pacific.
