Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday offered condolences to the Uttarakhand avalanche victims that took place near Mana village in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, in which eight workers lost their lives, and praised the people of the country for showing togetherness in this tragic incident.
Addressing a public rally in Uttarkashi, PM Modi expressed his grief over the avalanche incident, and said, “I express my condolence over the unfortunate incident that happened in Mana a few days back and the people who lost their lives. During this difficult situation, the unity country showed, gave a lot of strength to the families of the victim.”
A massive avalanche struck a Border Roads Organisation (BRO) camp near Mana village in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, burying 54 workers under the snow. While rescue teams saved 46 workers, eight workers tragically lost their lives.
PM Modi On Uttarakhand Tourism
During his address, PM Modi talked about the growing tourism of Uttarakhand and said that he wants to make it ‘Barahmasi’ (which lasts for 12 months). He further stated that this decade is becoming the decade of Uttarakhand.“The tourism sector needs to be diversified and we need to make it ‘Barahmasi’, 365 days. This is very important for Uttarakhand. I want no season to be off-season in Uttarakhand. Even during the off-season, tourism should be ongoing,” he added.
Further called Uttarakhand a divine land, filled with spiritual energy, the Prime Minister said, “The state is blessed with the four sacred shrines and countless pilgrimage sites. I feel blessed once again to come to this winter abode.”
