The QUAD nations today reviewed the progress of the alliance agenda and discussed regional and global development concerning the Indo-Pacific during the QUAD Foreign Ministers’ meeting held in New Delhi.
Addressing a press conference after the conclusion of the meeting, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs K Nagaraj Naidu said, the meeting reaffirmed the QUAD’s commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific. He said that the discussion focused on four pillars of QUAD cooperation, including maritime and transnational security, economic prosperity, security and critical and emerging technologies and humanitarian assistance and disaster response. He said that QUAD nations today launched the Indo-Pacific Maritime Surveillance Collaboration aimed at strengthening the coordination in maritime surveillance. He also highlighted that counter-terrorism is a significant pillar of the QUAD cooperation and the Foreign Ministers strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, including cross-border terrorism. He said that in the joint statement, terrorist attack in Pahalgam was condemned.
