During the promotions of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in 2016, Anushka Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor’s fun-filled camaraderie captured the attention of fans. One of the highlights of their interactions was a candid chat on the Mastiii show, where the two actors shared amusing stories about their friendships and relationships.
In one particularly entertaining segment, Ranbir dropped a surprising revelation: Anushka is a “champion” at friend-zoning! He went on to explain that one of Anushka’s male actor friends had developed feelings for her, but she had firmly put him in the friend zone.
Anushka, visibly taken aback by this confession, quickly explained her perspective. She attributed her ability to maintain platonic friendships with men to her upbringing in an army household. Having grown up with a father in the army, Anushka had always been surrounded by male friends, and for her, forming close bonds with both boys and girls came naturally.
Ranbir humorously added, “If this is difficult for some guys to understand, let me just say, the guy’s surname is Kapoor.” Anushka responded with a smile, sharing that her childhood was filled with friendships beyond gender, and she never saw things through a gendered lens. “We didn’t just have girl friends; we played with kitchen sets and toys with the boys too,” she recalled, offering a glimpse into her childhood.
On a personal note, Anushka Sharma married cricketer Virat Kohli in December 2017, in a private wedding ceremony in Italy. They had been in a relationship for several years before their marriage. In January 2021, the couple welcomed their daughter, Vamika, and in February 2024, they had a son, Akaay Kohli. The family has been enjoying life in London, keeping their private moments away from the public eye.
Ranbir Kapoor, on the other hand, tied the knot with actress Alia Bhatt. The couple has a daughter, Raha Kapoor, and is navigating life as new parents.
