CSIR-CCMB Scientists Discover Key Role of SPIN90 Protein in Cell Movement

The Hyderabad-based CSIR – Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) scientists have made a groundbreaking discovery about how cells adapt their internal structures to move and change shape.

They revealed the critical role of a protein called SPIN90 in helping cells, like white blood cells, form the rapid protrusions which are necessary to chase down and destroy pathogens.

The findings have been published in the international journal Nature Structural & Molecular Biology. The CCMB said the discovery sheds new light on the fundamental processes that govern cellular behaviour and could pave the way for a better understanding of various diseases.
