The Kapoor khandaan is knee-deep in festivities ahead of Anshula Kapoor and Rohan Thakkar’s July 6 nuptials and the celebrations have officially moved to a vibrant, colourful mehendi ceremony. And leaving fashion enthusiasts breathless is Bollywood’s absolute style maven, Sonam Kapoor, who gave fans a front-row look at her exquisite wardrobe choices for her cousin’s intimate pre-wedding ritual.
For Anshula’s mehendi, Sonam Kapoor chose to wear a custom creation from acclaimed designer Punit Balana, cleverly subverting typical pre-wedding dress codes. Rather than opting for standard heavy embroideries, new-mom Sonam embraced a transitional silhouette. The centerpiece of the outfit is a patterned slate-blue shirt-style long tunic, adorned with intricate, multi-hued floral prints and a heavily embellished collar and placket featuring delicate gold zardozi work and mirror-work borders. This structured piece cascades into an asymmetrical, tiered drape. Underneath, she wears what appears to be a dhoti crafted from the same fabric.Styled by sister Rhea Kapoor, Sonam shows us how to colour block by opting for dual dupattas. Draped over one shoulder is a rich, leaf-green silk dupatta embellished with delicate gold motifs that perfectly anchors the festive tone. On the opposing side, a fluid, satin-finish powder-blue dupatta wraps around her arm.True to form, the look is meticulously curated from head to toe. Sonam’s jewellery takes center stage with a spectacular pair of oversized gold crescent chandbali earrings detailed with delicate pearls, matched alongside heavy, textured gold kadas and cuffs gracing her wrists. For accessories, she carries a breathtakingly ornate gold clutch from Meera Mahadevia, heavily encrusted with signature metallic hand-carvings and traditional detailing.
