Defence Management Gets Financial Integration Push from Rajnath Singh

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has said that the same spirit of synergy and integration currently being emphasised among the three armed forces needs to be implemented within the financial framework of the Defence Accounts Department as well.

Addressing the Defence Accounts Day in New Delhi today, he said that if the financial systems are also integrated, the entire defence management will become even more efficient. He said that this department serves as a common thread connecting the entire Ministry of Defence and is the backbone of the defence system.

The Minister urged them to adopt and internalise the best practices in quality auditing at both the national and international levels and keep pace with evolving standards across the country and the world. Mr Singh stated that, during the last financial year, expenditure booking stood at approximately 100 percent.

He said, this achievement marks a significant milestone and is a testament to the concerted efforts of the Defence Accounts Department and the three Services.

The Minister added that this achievement reflects their unwavering commitment, dedication, hard work, and efficiency in ensuring the effective utilisation of resources.

During the event, the Defence Minister launched several Information Technology initiatives of the Defence Accounts Department aimed at strengthening financial management and digital systems within the Ministry of Defence.

These include the integration of the Indian Army Financial Information System with the Department’s SAKSHAM platform, the revamped National Compilation System for the Ministry of Defence, and the Payment Routing and Integrated System Management (PRISM) platform.
