Defence Ministry procures 20 GNSS Jammers for Navy to enhance  operational safety

The Defence Ministry today signed a contract worth 449 crore rupees for the procurement of 20 Enhanced Capability Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Jammers for the Indian Navy, with a minimum indigenous content of 75 per cent.

The contract, under the Buy (Indian-Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured) category, was signed in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh in New Delhi.

According to the Ministry, the system is capable of degrading an adversary’s GNSS receiver performance by disrupting satellite signal acquisition and tracking, as well as carrying out signal spoofing and deceptive jamming. The induction of these systems will enhance the operational safety of Indian Navy ships in a multi-threat environment.

Our correspondent reports that the contract reinforces the Government’s commitment to the Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives while strengthening the country’s maritime security architecture. It marks another significant step towards enhancing defence capabilities and promoting the indigenisation of advanced military technologies.
