India Announces ODI Squad for Australia, Shubman Gill to Lead Team

Shubman Gill will captain Team India in the three-match ODI series against Australia, which is set to start on October 19 in Perth. In the team announced by the BCCI on Saturday (October 4), Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are also included, but Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya missed out due to injuries, whereas Jasprit Bumrah has been rested.

Dhruv Jurel is picked ahead of Sanju Samson as backup wicketkeeper for the three ODIs starting October 19 in Perth, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna return to the ODI squad after being ignored for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.In place of Pandya, Nitish Kumar Reddy will be the fast-bowling all-rounder for the Men in Blue in Australia.

10 players that were part of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 squad have managed to retain their place in the 50-over squad.

In the T20I team, Pandya is the only member from the Asia Cup 2025 winning team that will not travel to Australia. He is injured and has been replaced by Nitish Reddy, whereas Washington Sundar has also been added to the squad.

India-Australia matches schedule

India’s tour of Australia will kick off with an ODI match between the two teams in Perth on October 19, and then they will face each other in the next two 50-over matches on October 23 and 25 in Adelaide and Sydney, respectively.

The first T20I will be played on October 29 in Canberra. MCG will host the second match on October 31, and the last three T20Is are scheduled to take place in Hobart, Gold Coast and Brisbane on November 2, 6 and 8, respectively.
