Strengthening Blue Diplomacy: INS Savitri Enhances India–Mozambique Naval Relations

The Indian Navy’s Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) INS Savitri arrived at Port Beira, Mozambique, as part of its current deployment to the Indian Ocean Region. The ship was given a warm and ceremonial welcome by Mozambican Navy personnel. This welcome symbolizes the deep historical ties and strong maritime cooperation between the two countries.

The Ministry of Defence issued a statement on Monday stating this. During the visit, naval personnel from both countries will participate in extensive joint training and professional interactions aimed at enhancing mutual cooperation and interoperability for future joint deployments.

The training sessions will include professional discussions on navigational aspects and effective EEZ surveillance, as well as practical experience of VBSS exercises, crisis management and firefighting drills.

The ship’s visit will conclude with joint yoga sessions and friendly futsal games, which will promote camaraderie and team spirit among the personnel of both navies.

As part of the ship’s community outreach activities, INS Savitri will welcome visitors and provide them an opportunity to witness the operational capabilities and rich maritime traditions of the Indian Navy.

Apart from this, a medical camp will also be organised to strengthen the bonds of friendship and goodwill with the local community.
