US Cities Enhance Electoral Inclusion With Language Support for Voters

In the United States, several parts of the country are making voting more accessible through multilingual ballots and interpreter services. As per the media reports, in elections to be held on the 3rd of next month, Chicago offers ballots in Hindi, Gujarati and Urdu at all polling stations, while California and parts of New York also provide language assistance. However, Texas, home to over six lakh Indian Americans, does not offer ballots in Indian languages.

The developments highlight efforts to make elections more inclusive, while underscoring the need to further expand language assistance for voters. The United States midterm elections will take place on the 3rd of next month. These elections occur near the midpoint of the current presidential term and will determine control of both chambers of the United States Congress, alongside various state-level positions.
